Royal Caribbean International’s newest Freedom-class ship, Independence of the Seas, made her US debut today at Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Sharing the title of world’s largest cruise ship with her sister-ships, Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas, Independence will be the line’s first Freedom-class ship to sail from Port Everglades.

Ultimate Resort Will Pay $98M For Bankrupt Tanner & Haley Assets

Orlando-based Ultimate Resort L.L.C. will pay $98 million to acquire all of the real estate assets of Tanner & Haley Resorts of Westport, Conn., which filed petitions to reorganize under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in July of this year. Chicago-based ioVest Development L.L.C. and Ara Macao Holdings L.P. announced that they have won approval by the Belize National Environmental Appraisal Committee to move forward on a 582-acre resort called the Ara Macao Resort and Marina in Placencia, Belize.
