Urbana hotel puts up stranded travelers in cots

More than 40 people whose cars went into the ditch on Interstate 380 are sleeping tonight in the game room and lobby at the Corridor Inns and Suites at the Urbana exit.

Travelers whose vehicles were stuck in the ditches along Interstate 380 got rides from State Troopers to the hotel that used to be the Super 8. It’s booked, and the Urbana Fire Department brought cots over for the stranded motorists to sleep in.

Janet Lemmons, the owner, said it’s the worst weather she’s seen in a decade.

Patrol said conditions were near whiteout.
