Hotel Roanoke time capsule buried

Sunday afternoon many visited and toured the Grand Old Lady, also known as the Hotel Roanoke.

In addition to touring the landmark, history buffs also took part in a time capsule ceremony.

Historic and current photos, guest books, china and recipes were buried in the capsule.

“I’m here because I wanted to see the time capsule buried and I wanted to sign it. Hopefully I’ll be around when I’m 137 years old and see it dug up again,” said Emmy Bender.

If you missed the ceremony, you can still catch the Fashions of Evergreens, which is the annual Christmas tree tour inside the hotel.
