Ahwtaukee condo complex close to opening
August 23rd, 2007 - Category: Condo, Real EstateA cluster of signs at Chandler Boulevard and 50th Street is promoting Indigo, Ahwatukee Foothills’ newest condominium community.
The 108-unit complex under construction just south of 50th Street and Frye Road is tucked into 9½ acres ringed by Horizon Learning Center to the south, St. Benedict Catholic Church and St. John Bosco school to the west and Andante Apartments to the north. Across the street from what will be a gated entrance are vacant lots and the freeway in the distance.
Indigo’s first of 15 buildings has sold out and, its first homeowners are expected to move in by mid-September.
“We have a single woman relocating from Texas whose plane was delayed so she rented a car and drove up and down the freeway looking for a place to live,” Shelly Rice, Indigo sales associate, said. “She saw us, dropped in and decided to buy.”
A couple from Maricopa saw Indigo from the freeway and thought it was new apartments until they were wooed by the “new construction” sign. A couple relocating from back East saw the sign on the Indigo van parked at the Chandler Boulevard intersection and purchased an upstairs unit the next day.
The sale clinchers, said Rice, have been the location and amenities not usually found in condos in Indigo’s price range of $199,492 to $301,900. Because the models won’t open until mid-September, the first homeowners bought from floor plans.
Indigo will have upstairs and downstairs units of one-bedroom/one-bath and two-bedroom/two-bath floor plans, ranging from 903 square feet to 1,296 square feet. Each unit has a garage with direct access to the home, one or two balconies or patios, and a laundry room with large-capacity washer and dryer.
Standard interior features include ceramic tile in entries, laundry, kitchen and baths, 2-inch faux wood blinds on windows and 4-inch vertical blinds on sliding glass doors, crown molding, recessed can lighting, stainless-steel kitchen sink and stainless-steel 22-cubic-foot refrigerator with ice maker and granite countertops in kitchens.
The community will have a clubhouse, three greenbelt areas, heated swimming pool, and spa and outdoor barbecue areas with ramadas.
“We’re getting a lot of people who are downsizing, some winter visitors and first-time homeowners who all want an affordable easy lifestyle,” said Tracy Hoskins, sales manager for the developer, Starpointe Communities.
Indigo was patterned after Starpointe’s award-winning condo community Biagio at Rural and Chandler in Chandler. Biagio was the only residential project to win an award for architectural excellence from Chandler last year.
Indigo will have a similar look, with different elevations and exterior earth colors and accents. Construction is expected to be completed by next year, Hoskins said.
