Jermaine Jason Martin, 18, and Peter Dorry Martyr, 17, were charged with aggravated robbery.

Detectives said the pair knew that the victim, Cecile Benoit, kept a wad of cash stuffed inside her shirt when she was attacked at knifepoint.

“I heard him trip the light and he put (a knife) to my throat and said, ‘I’m going to cut your throat if you don’t give me your money,’” Benoit said.

“They come in and said, ‘Give me the money or I’ll cut your throat,’” 4-year-old Cody said.

Benoit’s son, Larry, said one of the men claimed to be a friend of his sister, so he did not realize anything was wrong until he heard his mother’s cries from next door.

“She started screaming. I come out the door and they was already gone downstairs. I couldn’t catch them,” he said.

The two suspects escaped on foot with $300, which was Benoit’s rent money.

Investigators said they know the identity of the attackers.

“We have them documented as known Bloods — gang members. Unless these people are caught and brought to justice, then the preying continues and it becomes a cycle that’s hard to break,” said Detective Sgt. Lon Craft with the Baytown Police Department.

“I don’t feel safe now. I really don’t. I?m afraid of this place. I really am,” Benoit said.

Police said they are wondering if the pair is involved in similar crimes in the area.

Warrants have been issued for their arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Baytown Crime Stoppers at 281-427-TIPS.
