Rent Money Fight Leads Authorities To Apartment Fire
June 9th, 2007 - Category: ApartmentsEmergency crews responding to injuries caused during a dispute over rent money soon learned that they would have to fight an apartment fire at the apartment complex on Murfreesboro Road over the weekend.
Three men, who share an apartment at Winter downs on Murfreesboro Road, got into a fight over the rent. Police said during the argument, one of the men assaulted the other two.
One of the roommates was stabbed with a broken beer bottle. The other hit with a hammer.
Firefighters were responding to the stabbing, when a resident yelled that there was a fire.
The crews switched gears and started battling a small blaze in the same apartment where the stabbing happened.
“The fire was confined to that one bedroom where the mattress was. But there is pretty extensive smoke damage throughout the rest of the building,” said Joaquin Toone with the Nashville Fire Department.
One person, other than those assaulted, was sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
