Seymour Condo decision to take more time
June 6th, 2007 - Category: CondoMembers of the Inland Wetlands Commission want to take a little more time before deciding on the fate of a new 22-unit condominium complex.
The commission voted unanimously Monday to continue the public hearing for Summit Seymour’s new housing plans until 7 p.m. June 25.
Commission co-chairman Phil Wilhelmy III said he wanted to give the commission more time to review the details and wanted to allow more comments from residents. About a half dozen residents showed up for the hearing, which ran for more than two hours.
“If we don’t continue the hearing, we can’t accept any more material,” Wilhelmy said. “There are questions that may come up as we read through this plan. There’s a lot to consider.”
The proposed condo development is the second phase of the Great Oak Ridge condominiums. The units would be built on 3 acres neighboring the first development. Several neighbors on nearby Spring Street have expressed concerns about new development near their homes.
Officials from Summit Seymour presented extensive plans to prevent damage to existing wetlands.
Commission member Peter Jezierny said the commission has to make sure it considers things carefully.
The condo plan will still have to go through review by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
