Marriott hotel slated for entertainment center in China
June 5th, 2007 - Category: Hotel, Real EstateA Marriott hotel will be part of a massive entertainment, retail and gaming complex taking shape in Macao, China.
The 968-room Macao Studio City Marriott Hotel, slated to open in 2009, will be in a 30-story tower as part of a 4 million-square-foot development known as Macao Studio City, according to a statement from Bethesda-based Marriott International Inc.
The hotel will be operated under a management agreement with East Asia-Televisao Por Satellite Limitada, Marriott said.
The complex will include a 2,300-seat theater, a 200,000-square-foot casino, a 55,000-square-foot exhibition center, 1 million square feet of retail space and a television and film production facility.
The hotel will have a private executive level lounge, access to a destination spa, a resort-style swimming pool, a pool bar, a health and fitness center and a kids’ club and game room.
Other planned amenities include a business center, retail shopping, casual and specialty restaurants and shuttle service to the Macao ferry terminal and airport.
Conference space will be available for meetings and social events, including a grand ballroom that can be divided into 10 sections.
Currently, there are no Marriott hotels (NYSE: MAR) in Macao.
