Work resumes at condo project

After a two-month long shut down, work has resumed on an 18-unit condominium project at 3627-31 Forest Ave. in Brookfield.

The village halted work on March 23 after learning developers lacked permits for the installation of a drainage pipe that empties into Salt Creek.

Last Friday, the developer for the Forest Creek condos, Bass Builders, finally received its permit for the drainage system from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Brookfield’s director of Building and Planning, Keith Sbiral, said that work was expected to resume over the past weekend.

The condo development has been controversial from the start, despite receiving a pair of zoning variances that paved the way for its construction. Neighbors in the immediate area protested the development, saying it would lead to overcrowding and parking problems.
