Remix Hotel New York City Announces New Partners, Headliners and Producers, Including Intel, Yamaha, Just Blaze and Kode9

Penton Media’s Remix Hotel™ New York City, presented by Microsoft, will return to the SAE Institute of Technology May 18–20 for a weekend of music technology product demos, industry panels, workshops and special guest appearances. The event will feature panels from production mastermind Hank Shocklee; appearances by headliners Just Blaze, Kode9, DJ Enferno and Big Wiz; music production showcases in Microsoft’s Sound & Stage Room; and a series of afterparties hosted by Beatport. The Remix Hotel provides hands-on access to the technology and equipment used to create today’s electronic and urban music via artist presentations and demonstrations, workshops, clinics and discussion. Shocklee Inntertainment’s program panels will focus on a different sector of the industry each day—Business, Studio and Performance—covering subjects such as digital distribution deals, recording, musicianship and VJ technology. On May 19, megaproducer Just Blaze will join turntable maestro Rob Swift, UK dub-step pioneer Kode9 and others for the Producer’s Panel, moderated by Hank Shocklee.

Remix Hotel Technology Partners Rane and Serato will host a trio of top DJs showcasing the digital-DJ system Scratch Live. DJ Big Wiz will lead daily clinics featuring his innovative setup, while DJ Enferno will perform a live remix on Saturday, May 19 at 6 p.m. and Neil Armstrong of the DJ crew 5th Platoon will be performing.

Beatport and Remix® will host afterparties each night; admission is free to all RHNYC badge holders. Hosted at New York hot spots Cielo, Pacha and Guest House, the parties will feature sets by Frankie Knuckles, Victor Calderone, Michael Arana, DJ Willie Graff and Shackleton.

Other event highlights include the following:

* Presenting Partner Microsoft will create a complete studio environment in the Sound & Stage Room, where attendees can witness a variety of Windows-based music-creation systems.
* First-time Technology Partner Yamaha/Steinberg will be showcasing its Steinberg Sequel and Motif XS keyboard synth. Intel will be also on-site showing its new Core 2 Duo processors.

* On Sunday, May 20, the Musicians’ Roundtable will feature drummers Charley Drayton and David “Duke Mushroom” Schommer and multi-instrumentalist Robert Aaron. The musicians will discuss their craft, live instrumentation and collaborations with producers and artists.
