Summer family fun at Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa, Muscat
April 16th, 2007 - Category: Resort, TravelShangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa, Muscat is offering GCC residents a special summer family rate of RO120++ for two superior rooms at Al Waha, the resort’s dedicated five-star family hotel, from 10 May to 10 October 2007.
The largest of the resorts’ three hotels, Al Waha features 262 bedrooms with a minimum room size of 32 square metres, with each room providing guests either a balcony or patio. Forty of the units are family rooms comprised of two inter-connected bedrooms.
The name Al Waha means “The Oasis” and the hotel’s swimming pool area resembles one with its unusual form and many date palm trees. Nestled at the foot of a mountain range and with vehicular access through a man-made tunnel, Al Waha’s architecture of is traditional Dhofari, from the southern region of Oman.
The resort’s children’s club, “Little Turtles,” offers a wide range of supervised activities for children of all ages in an air-conditioned indoor area as well as an outdoor play area that features an old Omani dhow. In addition to the hotel’s chilled swimming pool are a toddler’s pool with a rubber-cushioned floor, and for older children a separate pool in the shape of a water mushroom.
Babysitting facilities are also available, allowing parents to enjoy an undisturbed evening in one of the resorts’ many food and beverage outlets secure in the knowledge that their children are being professionally supervised. Within the resort are six main restaurants, seven casual dining outlets and pool bars, three lobby lounges, two bars and a nightclub.
Two popular restaurants are located in Al Waha hotel: Samba is a South American and Argentinean-inspired restaurant serving Mexican food together with famous dishes from Brazil, Peru, Ecuador and Chile. The Surf Café is a quick-service restaurant incorporating an Internet café for the younger guests. The emphasis here is on healthy food and family favourites cooked to order with a minimum of fuss.
The Assira Pool Bar serves snacks and easily managed food and offers guests an extensive selection of beverages. The Bait Al Bahr seafood restaurant is a stand-alone restaurant located between Al Waha and Al Bandar hotels. It has a prime location on the beach with floor to ceiling windows offering spectacular views over the beach to the ocean.
The 250 metre “lazy river” presents an unusual method for guests to travel between Al Waha and Al Bandar hotels by floating on the controlled current in between the hotels’ main swimming pools. Guests can relax and enjoy something to eat or drink at Al Bandar’s many food and beverage outlets then float or drift leisurely back again to Al Waha.
This special summer family deal is available for GCC residents only, for a minimum of two nights stay within the specified period. The above rate is subject to 17 percent tax and service charges, and family rooms are subject to availability. Kids under 12 dine for free at Samba all-day dining restaurant when accompanied by their paying parents.
