A developer has gotten the go-ahead by city planners to build an apartment complex off Hurley Avenue.

City Planner Suzanne Cahill said the Planning Board has approved a proposal by Lloyd Park Limited of Newburgh to build a 34-unit complex on property at 151-171 Hurley Ave. and 163 Hurley Ave., opposite Coffey Place.

John Quinn, a partner in the firm, has said the company hoped to start building the complex in the spring and complete it in eight months.

Cahill has said the complex, to be known as Lloyd Park Commons, is to have two buildings containing a total of 38,400 square feet. One building would contain 18 two-bedroom, rental apartments, while the other would contain 16 apartments, Cahill said.

The planner said developers have proposed to rent the units for $1,000 a month each.

Cahill said that the developers have built similar projects, including a 62-unit complex in Hyde Park.

There is a vacant house on the parcel that will be demolished.
