Darlington Raceway won the 2007 Governor’s Cup Award, presented Tuesday at the state’s annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism and Travel.

The award is given out by the South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism agency to an organization that has demonstrated a significant tourism-related impact on the state and local community, the agency said in its announcement.

Darlington Raceway president Chris Browning was happy the track was recognized for contributing to South Carolina. “The track is honored to be in position of being able to give something back to those who have supported us for more than 50 years,” he said.
