The developers of Wilderness Resort, a water park in Wisconsin Dells, said they purchased two parcels of land adjacent to the new Sevierville (Tenn.) Events Center.

A financing commitment for the project has been finalized and announced Wednesday morning with a group of local banks led by Dwight Grizzell, president and CEO of Mountain National Bank in Seviervile.

Plans call for a groundbreaking in April on a 236-room, four-story hotel that will be connected to the Events Center via an enclosed corridor.

The facility is slated to include an approximately 20,000-square-foot indoor water park with family raft rides, body slides, an indoor/outdoor hot spa and an interactive children’s play structure. The hotel also will include a restaurant, coffee shop, workout facility and conference rooms. It is anticipated to be completed by early 2008.

Wilderness developers also plan an upscale six-story condominium resort. The property will consist of 233 furnished condominiums. It will also have its own indoor water park and a Thirsty Buffalo bar and grill. Pre-sales for the condominium units are expected to begin this spring.

The development is located at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The commitment by Wilderness Resort to the Tennessee project follows a $150 million dollar expansion of the firm’s Wisconsin Dell’s development in summer 2006. Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort in Wisconsin Dells opened in 1995.
