Charlotte: Downtown hotel makes a change

The 361-room Marriott Austin Capitol at 701 E. 11th St. is now the Sheraton Austin Hotel. The property is Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.’s first in the Austin market.
Norwalk, Conn.-based HEI Hotels & Resorts purchased the hotel, making it the company’s 25th property in the country. HEI plans extensive renovations for the hotel starting this summer, which will include upgrades to all guestrooms.
“We are ecstatic to be in Austin and look forward to creating comfortable stays in the Capitol city,” says HEI General Manager Bob LaCasse. “The hotel is dedicated to making our guests belong, and our team is devoted to getting involved throughout the Austin community.”
In addition to its guestrooms, the hotel offers 17,000 square feet of meeting space.
