Apartment rent rising throughout the valley

While renters in studio apartments saw a 1 percent increase to $650, those with two bedrooms and two bathrooms paid $1,054 on average, a 5.9 percent jump from a year ago, according to Novato-based research firm RealFacts’ fourth quarter 2006 apartment rent and occupancy report.
Apartment rent in the valley is still much cheaper than in many other cities across California.
The Los Angeles-Orange County region remained the most expensive metro rental market in the Western U.S, RealFacts reported. In the fourth quarter, the area’s average rent rose to $1,567, a 7.4 percent increase from a year earlier.
